I'm a day late for this event, but I'll post something anyway. I first learnt programming from Barbara Jaworski when I started upper school at 13. Although computers were not a subject in our first year she started a lunchtime computer group where I took my first steps with BASIC. We had a Teletype that connected to the local college via acoustic coupler. We could take it in turns to enter our programs and print the results.
Mrs Jaworski coached me through my O and A level computer studies as well as teaching me maths. I think she may be at Loughborough now. I thank her for starting me on the path to my career.
